The Rhode Island Science & Technology Advisory Council announced the winners of the 2011 Rhode Island Research Alliance Collaborative Research Grants, the fifth round of awards aimed at facilitating collaborative research in Rhode Island. The awards, totaling $1,435,822, will support eight projects, representing 23 scientists from 13 educational institutions, hospitals and private companies.

RIEDC Awards $225,000 Small Business Loan Fund to Nationwide Diesel Technologies, Inc.

The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) today announced that Nationwide Diesel Technologies, Inc (NDT) has been awarded a $225,000 loan by the agency’s Small Business Loan Fund. The financing will enable NDT, which operates a technical training facility in Smithfield, to open the Trades Training Center of Rhode Island, a new training center in Quonset/Davisville on February 15 and hire 15 additional employees.

URI Opens Center for Biotechnology and Life Sciences
