The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) announced that the agency has received five awards for marketing and promotional excellence from the Northeastern Economic Developers Association’s (NEDA). This is the fourth consecutive year that the RIEDC has been recognized for its marketing and promotions efforts.

RIEDC received two "Best in Class/Excellent” honors for the 2011 Rhode Island Travel Guide and the Visit Rhode Island Mobile Application (www.visitrhodeisland.com) developed by its Tourism division, an “Excellent” recognition for its Broadband Rhode Island (http://broadband.ri.gov) and Rhode Island Site Locator websites (www.risitelocator.com) and a “Merit” Award for its 2010 Fiscal Year Performance Report (www.riedc.com).

“In continued recognition of our successful marketing and communications initiatives, these awards demonstrate the RIEDC’s commitment to effectively promote critical economic development programs and policies and better inform and engage the business community, general public, state leaders and stakeholders. We are constantly striving to promote the state both nationally and internationally, and we appreciate NEDA’s recognition of our efforts,” said RIEDC Executive Director Stokes.

The NEDA awards recognize strategic communications initiatives aimed at increasing tourism as well as identifying opportunities to retain, expand and relocate businesses in key industries, including life sciences, financial services, information technology, digital media, defense and health care.

The judges included a NEDA panel of experts in the fields of economic development and marketing drawn from NEDA’s territory (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont). All submissions were evaluated based on: design and layout, clarity of message, production quality, functionality and overall creativity and impact.
