RIEDC Wins Four Northeastern Economic Developer’s Association Marketing Awards

The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) announced today that it is the recipient of four marketing and promotional awards from the Northeastern Economic Developers Association’s (NEDA) 2009 Literature and Promotion Awards. This is the second year that the agency has been recognized for their marketing and promotions efforts.

The RIEDC received one "excellent” citation for the agency’s 2009 Rhode Island Travel Guide. Three awards of “Merit” were granted for the agency's 2009 Economic Growth Plan, two advertisements related to renewable energy and international trade and the re-launch of the Every Company Counts (ECC) web site, www.everycompanycounts.com

“NEDA’s renewed recognition of our marketing and communications efforts celebrates the RIEDC’s targeted and creative approach to communicating about Rhode Island with both in and out-of-state audiences,” says J. Michael Saul, RIEDC’s interim executive director. “We strive to consistently create highly effective and cost efficient communication products for our economic development activity."

The NEDA awards recognize strategic communications initiatives aimed at increasing tourism, identifying retention, expansion and relocation opportunities in multiple business sectors including financial services, information technology and digital media, health and life sciences and the interactive needs of the small business community. The ECC web site receives hundreds of thousands of hits per year and the new site offers easier and faster access to critical small business resources, networks, data, publications, blogs, events, educational forums and news.

The judges included a NEDA panel of experts in the fields of economic development and marketing drawn from NEDA’s territory (Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Massachusetts, Maryland, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island and Vermont) and all submissions were rated in terms of: design and layout, clarity of message, production quality, functionality, and overall creativity and impact.

The awards were presented at NEDA’s recent Annual Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
