BMW Oracle Officials Requests Meeting with the RIEDC to Discuss America’s Cup Event Final

The RIEDC is set to hold face-to-face preliminary discussions early this week at the request of BMW-Oracle officials. The meeting comes after BMW officials announced concern with hosting the final event in San Francisco and RIEDC formally submitted its proposal on Wednesday December 8 to hold either the qualifying Challenger Series competitions or the Championship Finals for the 34th America’s Cup.

Bond Sale Closing Paves Way For 38 Studios to Bring 450 Jobs to Rhode Island

RIEDC announced today the closing of its Job Creation Guaranty Program financing package that supports 38 Studios’ expansion and relocation to Rhode Island, which will bring 450 high-wage, high-skilled jobs to the state. Wells Fargo Securities Capital and Barclays co-underwrote the bonds, which were purchased in a private placement on November 2, 2010 by a group of investors that includes insurance companies, asset managers, money managers and a community bank.

The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) Board of Directors today approved financing and tax incentive measures for two critical projects aimed at creating at least 209 jobs. The Board also approved funding that will allow one of the state’s largest manufacturers to install a solar energy system to significantly reduce energy use and lower its business costs in Rhode Island.
