Last week, Governor Lincoln D. Chafee submitted his proposed Fiscal Year 2012 budget. During his budget address, the Governor talked about the unprecedented fiscal challenges that his administration must meet head on because the temporary fixes are no longer available. It is against this backdrop that the Governor presented a proposed budget. The Governor stated that his plan aims to go beyond closing a budget deficit with a larger goal of structurally changing how the state is governed in order to lay the foundation for a stronger, more competitive Rhode Island economy in the long term.
