The loan will help the newly established surfboard company, which produces surfboards with a fine-art design, a high degree of functionality and eco-friendly materials, expand its business.
RIEDC Board of Directors Approve Funding for Three Renewable Energy Projects

RIEDC Awards $225,000 Small Business Loan Fund to Nationwide Diesel Technologies, Inc.

The Rhode Island Economic Development Corporation (RIEDC) today announced that Nationwide Diesel Technologies, Inc (NDT) has been awarded a $225,000 loan by the agency’s Small Business Loan Fund. The financing will enable NDT, which operates a technical training facility in Smithfield, to open the Trades Training Center of Rhode Island, a new training center in Quonset/Davisville on February 15 and hire 15 additional employees.

At a June 12, 2007 awards ceremony, RIMES was presented "the Creative Partnership Award" by the Workforce partnership of Greater Rhode Island from Dottie Miller, Acting Executive Director and Steven Kitchin, Chair. The award was given in recognition of the contributions to the state workforce by the RIMES M.O.S.T (Machine Operators Skills Training) program. Governor Carcieri presented the award to Leslie Taito, RIMES CEO and Ed Murphy, RIMES M.O.S.T Program Manager. The Governor then presented them a gubernatorial citation of congratulations.

Manufacturing is an integral part of Rhode Island's economy. From robotics to yachts, from metal tools to plastics, Rhode Island products are used by companies and individuals around the world. In 2002, fully 10.5 percent of Rhode Island's gross state product (and 12 percent of the private-sector GSP) was generated from manufacturing.
