- As of July 1, 2007, the U.S. Census Bureau estimated that Rhode Island's total population was 1,057,832 residents.
- This R.I. Census 2006 Profile provides text and charts describing the demographic, economic and housing characteristics of the state in 2006. The report was produced by the U.S. Census Bureau under the Amercian Community Survey program.
- Providence, the state capital and largest city, had a 2006 estimated population of 175,255 persons, making it the third largest city in New England behind Boston and Worcester.
