Rhode Island High Wage Sector Analysis

RIEDC has analyzed the composition of the state's economy in an effort to identify those industry sectors with above average wages and strong potential for growth locally. This report compares the concentration of higher-wage jobs in Rhode Island to other states, and summarizes trends in the numbers of jobs and average wage within these sectors, using employment data from 2001 to 2007. Note: RIEDC has customized the definitions of these sectors by combining different industry codes from the North American Industrial Classification System (NAICS). The higher-wage sectors discussed here do not equate to standard NAICS sectors as reported by various state and Federal agencies.
