Small Business Ombudsman
As Small Business Ombudsman in the newly formed Office of Regulatory Reform (ORR), Sherri Lynn Carrera helps small businesses navigate through the regulatory system. ORR aims to improve the state’s business climate by making it easier for small and mid-sized businesses to deal with state and municipal permitting and regulatory issues. In her current position she is also responsible for enforcing the Rhode Island Regulatory Flexibility Act and is the Rules Coordinator for RIEDC. Joining the staff of RIEDC in 2005 as Operations Manager for Every Company Counts, Sherri brought with her 13 years of experience working with small businesses at the Secretary of State’s Office-First Stop Business Information Center. She is a member of the Northeast Economic Developers Association and the Lt. Governor’s Small Business Advocacy Council. She holds a BS from Rhode Island College in Marketing and a certificate in Quality Service from The Disney Institute. T: 401-278-9174
